In 1930, a new division in the Treasury Department was established -- the Federal Bureau of Narcotics -- and Harry J. Anslinger was named director. This, if anything, marked the beginning of the all-out war against marijuana.

Anslinger was an extremely ambitious man, and he recognized the Bureau of Narcotics as an amazing career opportunity -- a new government agency with the opportunity to define both the problem and the solution. He immediately realized that opiates and cocaine wouldn't be enough to help build his agency, so he latched on to marijuana and started to work on making it illegal at the federal level.

Anslinger immediately drew upon the themes of racism and violence to draw national attention to the problem he wanted to create. Some of his quotes regarding marijuana...

the whole reason pot was first outlawed was because the goverment was trying to keep the mexicans from coming over the border and causing trouble. Has anyone ever seen the movie grass? it is an awsome documentry on the Us war on marijuana. It is an awsome, informative movie with the narration done by Woody harrelson . It talks ALOT about angslinger and all his dumb shit. It is a great movie. It doesnt say that pot is completey harmless, and every pothead is a saint, but does do a good job of showing that the government propaganda were fed is far from the truth.

Anslinger was appointed to the lifetime, non-elected office that made laws by the Secretary of treasury. Mr. Mellon of the Mellon Bank. Mr Mellon created the Federal B of Narcotics for Mr Anslinger because Anslinger had just married the daughter of Mr. Mellon. Mr Mellons bank had lent the Duponts a lot of money and owned stock in them. They had a new chemical and patents they got from the Nazis in the war, called nylon. So Dupont, well it went on. But Henry J Assinaslinger is all part of the conspiracy to kill industrial and medical hemp. No one really cares about smokers, they just make good prisoners for slave labor.
