If you only have one plant you would need to turn it hermie to get any seeds.
It takes two to make a true cross a mom and dad plant. Hermie is both mom & dad and the plant can turn hermie but are you sure you want to do that?
dude if u have to ask that ur not redy to grow i wa s teh same way liek 2 mounts agen and now iknow almost evey thing i need to know i just need the money for he set up and shit
Hi StEeLpHanToM
Zandor, if I may...
StEeLpHanToM,
If you ask this cause you want to know if you will be able to get the most mileage (most buds/smoke) out of your one seed, well, you don't have to have a seed for every new plant because if the seed you have now turns out to be a female....
then that female can have babies another way without needing more seeds.
The way you do that is called Cloning and you can learn about that here too.
Cloning does not require seeds. You just snip off some branches from your first plant when it reaches a certain age.
And you can also later snip off clones from the clone.
And harvests will keep on coming from your original seed... without needing new seeds all the time.
The other beauty part about Cloning is you do not have to worry about sexing (finding smokable females from less desirable males) - cause the babies from the mother plant will be exact copies of that first female mother plant - including the important female part.
But first you have to find out if your one and only seed will become a female.
Only way to do that is plunk it into some soil (or in a hydro plan if you happen to have more time and money).
A little off topic, but I've been told that bag seed grows tend to produce more hermies then other grows (seeds from a grower, clones...etc.) I was told that this is because if you get a seed in your sticky icky then chances are the grower had a hermie plant because who is going to have a male in the grow room if he/she is growing buds to sell. I was also told (by the same guy) that hermie genetics are passed along. Don't know how true that is but... whatever. It's why I waited to score some clones before I started my grow instead of using my bagseeds.
