Can u stop it growing in height?

Hi i hava a female plant in my room, good lights and all, but theres a lil problem, my dad just wants me to make it stop growing in height cuz he dosent want it to be too much visible or too much smelly. Anywayz i heard of wayz of making the plant stop growing in height and grow fat instead. but is there a safe way to do it? cuz i dont wanna fuck up anything, thx in advance
