Who's Looking Out for the Christians ?

Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers reminds me of June Cleaver, who birthed Beaver and Wally in 1960's sitcom land. Standing next to President Bush, I kept envisioning Harriet holding a tray of cookies for the President and any Senator who might want one.
Now I realize this portrayal of Ms. Miers is immature and possibly offensive to people who resent this kind of foolishness when professional women are involved. But trust me, my daydream about Harriet Miers is not nearly as offensive as what is going on in some media precincts. Many conservative pundits don't like Harriet because she's not "right" enough. And some lefties believe she's not qualified to serve her country because she's a practicing Christian.
Writing in the secular temple that is The New York Times, columnist Maureen Dowd states: "[President Bush] is asking for a triple leap of faith. He has faith in Ms. Miers as his lawyer and as a woman who shares his faith. And we're expected to have faith in his faith and her faith that could change the balance of the court and affect women's rights for the next generation."
Of course Ms. Dowd worships at the altar of Roe v. Wade, and any person who might be pro-life is automatically unsuitable in her mind to hold a decision-making position. But the truth is, Harriet Miers has not publicly stated her position on abortion and probably will never do so. Thus, Ms. Dowd is objecting to Ms. Miers because she attends an evangelical Christian church in Texas, and we can't have those kinds of people on the Court, can we?
Some liberal journalists and politicians are clearly saying conservative Christians need not apply to serve their country. This, of course, is outrageous and unconstitutional. If that kind of bias was directed at any other American group, there would be hell to pay. But Christians are fair game for media scorn, mockery, and dismissal.
A recent Gallup survey puts the number of Americans who call themselves Christians at 84%, and that kind of majority is dangerous to the goals of the secular-progressive movement. The main opposition to things like gay marriage, euthanasia, legalized drugs and all kinds of abortion on demand for any girl or woman are faith-based people who form judgments about behavior and object to a society that does not. If you eliminate people of faith from positions of power in the USA, well, hello Holland.
It is worth noting that according to the American Society of Newspaper Editors, journalists are much less "Christian" than the country as a whole. A 1997 study says 59% of newspaper people call themselves Catholic or Protestant and 20% say they don't believe in God at all. According to Gallup, just 9% of the American population is atheist or agnostic.
Mark my words, in the weeks to come you will hear all kinds anti-Christian stuff in the media when Harriet Miers is being discussed. Some of it will be subtle, but not all. This is a clip-and-save moment. The secular media knows Ms. Miers will be confirmed to the Supreme Court, but they will get their anti-Christian digs in during the process.
As a Christian, I have already forgiven my misguided peers for what they will inevitably do. Also, after 12 years of Catholic school, I know a thing or two about demons. The demonization of Harriet Miers will be very instructive to watch. And she looks like such a nice woman.

The only demons, if Row vs. Wade is overturned, will be the hoards of unwanted little monsters that will be born to people that haven't the slightest idea of how to live themselves, much less raise children correctly. We've got the crime rate down, now this ultra-rich O'Reilly guy, with Bush's nominee, wants to return to the "old days" when gangs ruled the streets, and murder, muggings & other vicious crimes were commonplace. Bush and O'Reilly did not grow up, or live, in the type of areas that I did, and they have not experienced first-hand the problems that they are trying to bring back. O??Reilly is ??looking out? for illegitimacy, the creation of more welfare, and violent crime. We do not want that, and fortunately most people agree. O'Reilly TALKS tough, but is just pussy that played the game and achieved great financial wealth - by sucking up. I'm sure that he gets letters alluding to this, but won't show them on his nightly show - with good reason.
We've got enough to worry about with "dirty" bombs, and other forms of terrorism - we don't need home-grown criminals to keep our police and army distracted and busy. They don't have the time or resources, anyway.

Howdy Breukelen,
"Little monsters" ? Spoken like a person who has no children....
I'm fairly certain, that O'Reilly grew up in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York..he ain't no wimp..and he's always been against illegitamacey, welfare and violent crime.
It seems that you are a person, who believes that children must be made to suffer for the sins of their parents, with no accountability for the 2 who concieved the child..your solution,is murder and no accountability.
Why is there a portion of our populace, whom have an un-quenchable thirst for murdering un-born children ?
Have a good one ...

Tholiak, I dare you to refrain from racism for just one post. You go out of your way to spew your hate in this forum. If I was a conservative, I'd be ashamed to be identified with you. I like conservatives like Torog because at least he's a decent man.

I don't have any, and am glad for it.

O'Reilly did NOT grow up in Hell's Kitchen. He had a very nice Middle Class upbringing and went to Harvard. Not to fault him for his luck in life, but he is also a spineless punk with a big mouth from the suburbs. I like to watch him when there's nothing else on.

No, I don't like suffering at all. Abortion, as a correction for the failure of birth control or other mistakes, is a necessary evil. Anyway, abortion is way down and not likely to go up much.
Why is there a portion of our populace, whom have an un-quenchable thirst for murdering un-born children ?
That's a loaded question. Why has the crime rate gone DOWN so much since unwanted fetus' have been legally, medically, terminated? O'Reilly had people on his show that asked the same question, and he couldn't answer it.
Have a good one ...
I always do! Thanks.

Yeah. I dont think this guy really grew up in the streets.
I wouldnt let him buy my groceries, much less help make any decisions concerning the welfare of a country.
Your burger or chicken sandwich had more brain cells than a fetus. Yet you dont give a flying fuck about that.

I feel so bad for you christians. Perhaps, oneday, God willing, we will have an openly christian president. Or 43, IN A FUCKING ROW! Do any of you wonder why, in a book running 1500 pages, which pertains to deal with good and evil, there is not a single mention of slavery? Of course not, you serve evil with every breathe, because that is what "god" is, the justafication for your ignorance and prejudices.
