Grow process consultation...

Hello people,

I've got a quick question. I'm about to receive some seeds (if all goes well) and I wanted to check with you guys about my plans for those seeds.

System Recap: 1000W, Hydro NFT, LST SCRoG (like HarddOn's)...

Here's what I wanted to do:

1- Seeds arrive, I plant a couple (3-5) in Rockwool
2- Give them 24/0 until XX number of days. (CFL lights)
3- Have them grow a little bit, then change to 12/12 so they can flower, thus enable me to know their sex (male/female)
4- Once I've got my female, I kill off the males, then proceed to take 12 clones from my female
5- I prepare the clones (per Zandor's excellent FAQ) in a hydro bubbler cloner (custom built)
6- I give light to the clones 21/3 for YY number of days.
7- I transaplant the 12 clones to my growing cabinet, into their final mesh-pots filled with lava rocks.
8- Light them 21/3 with 400W MH for aprox 18 days.
9- Flower them: 12/12 with 400W MH + 600W HPS for as long as necessary.



How many XX days aproximately in step #2?
How many YY days aprox. in step #6?
In step #6, should I use CFLs or my 400W MH? Should I hold the MH until my 5th set of nodes?

Another important question: If I already 'flowered' my plants in order to know their sex, what should I do to take them back to vegetative so I can take proper clones? Is there a way to know the sex in pre-flowering with this hurried time-schedule?

I welcome all input, opinions, suggestions and questions. This that I'm talking about here is still about 1 week, 2 weeks into the future, so we still got time to plan it.

If I were to take an educated guess I would say......

XX days would be at least 35 days from seed, and I would do 18/6 not 24/0

YY days....I don't know...I don't clone

I would guess you should use CFL on fresh cuttings until they get strong and show roots unless your 400 watt can run as cool as the CFL. No such thing as too many lumens if there is no problem with heat right?

To revert back to vegetation from flowering, most people go back to 18/6 or 24/0. You would probably want to change nutes back to veg formula at next reservoir change.

Thanks Stormcooker. As for the 35 days from seed to flower, fuck. Another option I was thinking was of posting updated pictures on these boards, and looking for the advice from you guys. When you people say I can 12/12 in order to flower and know the sex, I go for it.

Damn. Goes to show how things get when HD leaves :) lol anyway if your cutting clones your really going to need a nice strong healthy plant. Therefore you should veg for atleast 2 months, the average I beleive... and then cut clones, rooting may take anywhere from 4 to 15 days. Then a good 20 day veg and two more months to flower.. sorry I am dissapointing you with this info as I kno it screws up your time frame.. But taking clones from a plant that isn't ready just isn't a good Idea. I wanted to play it safe with my seeds as well, and planted only 5 (all sprouted, one died) should I mess up, hoping for a few females, even though I will only use one because as a mother plant its goin to need the space and time to grow big and healthy, then after two months I flower, etc, etc, etc. Basically your idea but I chose to go organic... Atleast we'll have eatchother to refer too! ;) Peace out
