I mean, do you think we can reach a perfect peace, as a human race?
Yes. I believe we can. Though not in our lifetime, nor in our children's, nor in our children's children's. I think it will take a catastrophic event, like the quasi-anihilation of humanity, or maybe something like discovering intelligent life beyond our planet. The problem is that the people now in power don't think on a global scale, they are still only thinking not even about the people they lead, but only for themselves, for their own benefit. Thus, outdated concepts like nationalism, racism, sexism, and all other forms of discrimination would have to disappear.
But it doesn't end there. another thing that would have to disappear is religion, There can be no peace while any religion, whatever it may be, still exists. But that's not a bad thing as many religious people would have you believe. To live without belief in the after-life, without belief in a supreme being who created us, that is to live in harmony with humankind, with nature. When all the world will realize that humans, and only humans, can control their own destiny, when we realize that we have no higher authority to answer to but ourselves, when we realize that the Here and Now is more important that the After, when we realize that we alone are responsible for the well-being of our planet's environment and all its life forms, when we realize that humans are inherently GOOD without some sort of indoctrination to turn them evil, then we will live in peace and harmony.
Unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen tomorrow...
No. Perfect peace is unrealistic. There will always be disputes, and people attempting to solve them with violence. But we certainly can get a hell of a lot closer to that ideal than we are now. For instance, I think war could potentially be done away with, but it will take a lot of progress.
Thats an interesting question. I think we should look to our cousins the apes and chimpanzees for answers. Even chimpanzees are known to rape other chimps, and gangs of chimps have also been known to murder and harass other animals for no reason other than pleasure, or perhaps as a show of strength or to establish superiority in the group.

Do I think violence is programmed into our genes? I think somewhat. Violence is also, in a sense, a learned skill. I think it will be especially hard to overcome our animal-like instincts. We have to figure out exactly when our human ancestors began killing other humans.
I'd go back to the beginning of the evolution of our functional primates, to find where we started killing each other. As soon as we developed hunger, we needed food, my best bet is that your best friend was the first person you tasted.
What could we dispute if we all shared?
Good question. ;)Quote:

I dont believe we will ever return to perfection if indeed it ever existed at all.. Man aint much more then an animalistic ape. there is too much want and need and lack in this world to ever have peace, someday the planet of the ape masters may come back and say ''my god they can talk''
