I've always used Clonex Rooting Gel.
You're a little late Trichome. This is from september dude. But I wonder if he meant he didn't use any rooting hormone at all.
not nearly as fast as using something you can buy but it does happen all by itself
using IBA (the ingredient in rooting hormones.. Indole Butyric Acid) gives a 218% increase in rooting success over control groups when tested...
you could use a cutting of willow in there also

All plants, that I know of, will root without gel or powder, except for a couple plants that you just can't clone.. carnivorous plants... fake plants.. etc...

Willow has something in it that stimulates roots in cuttings of other plants..dunno if it's IBA or some other hormone..
