any hints on flavoring

plenty of shit you can use to enhance that aroma:

dried fruit - like apples, lemon/orange/other citrus, blue/rasp/strawberry, etc.
incense - like sandalwood (when not made with synthetic perfumes)
spices - like cloves, ginger, or cinnamon sticks
herbs - like mint, sage, rosemary, thyme, pine, eucalyptus

add whatever good smelling shit you want to your bag of grass, and check the effect after a few days - best to do when it's still a little damp

then roll a spliff and test it out
