soil vs hydro

i have noticed in my local grow shop and from speakin with a lot off others, that many of them have ditched there hydro set ups and returned to siol.
when i asked one r 2 why they responded, taste and quality of the weed.
what r the peeople here think bout this?
i was gonna do a hydro 4 my nxt grow, but it is much more expensive than the st up i have now(with a few alterations its grand).,
but if people r goin back 2 siol 4 whatever reason, whats the piont on me changin?, think ill stick with siol
any input?

People who grow their way grow their way because they think thier way is the best.

I have smoked probably 2 or 3 box cars worth of weed in my life.

I think hydro looks better, smells better, tastes better, but i think soil grow gets me slightly more immune from reality than hydro does.

If you grow in Hydro you work for your weed. You balance the Ph twice a day and chance the nutrients every 7-10 days. You are always moving the light up because the plants are growing so fast. You work harder because you can get in 1-2 more grows a year in hydro compared to dirt. That's why you work harder. It take more money to grow hydro properly but the rewards are well worth the effort.

Dirt farming is so easy even a cave man can do it.:D

I'm no doubt even up to the level of a cave man yet.

I am betting, that HYDRO has more yields + you get more grows in a year.. Thus more weed, thus more weed to sell, thus more money on the investment.. I would realyl like to look into HYDRO, but Its a steep start up cost for me, All I wanted to do was grow a couple of ounces so I could stop smoking that B/S that my peeps in the hood were selling me.. So we are talking 4-5 plants every 3-4 monts, so maybe I can squeze in more with more lights or SOG.. but for me its just a matter of some nice herb to smoke.. I wish there was a basic HYDRO set up for one plant, I am sure there is.. I may try that one day.. Fun to learn.. Someome once told me you get could 4 oz from one plant doing HYDRO, so that would be worth it.. if it were true?

DWC bucket. All you need is an 8"net pot w/ grow rocks, a 5-gallon bucket with lid. Several air stones that will make a good amount of bubbles and a good air pump. You fill the bucket about 1/2 way with nutrients and Ph adjusted water and turn on the air pump. Add in some quality HPS light, a little airmovement and keep the temperature down and you are good to go.

From what I've read, Hydro does have its vast advantages and is un-arguably better in yields, but its rather costly and requires alot of constant work. I prefer dirt because I can sit and watch the plant, talk to it, and only the humidifier I have on 3 times a week makes noise :)

So your saying I could do some some hydro with a five gallon bucket. I think I will look into that and try it with my next grow. I have all the lights, If you have some basic intructions, float them to me..As always I will do a search + google
