I dont find it needed to test the soil. A good soil will start in the 5.X range and proper pH watering of 6.8 will keep it right where it needs to be. :)

Ok I guess I have some problems (course you all knew that right? ha) pH for the water I'm using is...drum roll......7+!!!!!!! I guess that's why the leaves are looking a little unhappy right now. So I need to bring down the pH. Like to have it around mid 6's as from what I've read that's where most people suggest you have it for optimum benefits. Any suggestions on any home remedies to reduce it?

The testing kit I have won't allow me to fine tune it to exactly 6.8. I can get it awful close though. All done with colors after you put 3 drops of dye in the water. Best I could find at this point.
I use a pool Chlorine and PH tester, it only tests the water but thats really all you need. Im not sure how much it would cost you American, but over here its fairly cheap.
