How do you pack a bowl?

Does anyone have a method or certain way they pack a bowl so it hits/burns to their liking? Thought it might be cool to hear some ideas.

I break my nug or nugs up until they are the size of pencil erasers. I pick up the mound of nug pieces in my fingers and form it into a LOOSE ball. I then pack it into my bowl. I don't pack it tight before pushing it in because it won't hit because it'll be too tight. Though, packing as you place it into the bowl allows you to get the right amount of suction. Ever hear a bunch of air when you hit your pipe? That's the air moving AROUND your weed. We want it to move through it.

Well, that's me. A friend of mine came up with a slogan we'd have posted in our coffee shop one day for this method :rolleyes: "All our bowls are expertly packed!" Enjoy!

awesome question! I was always a little offended when people grabbed a big nug and just crushed it into the bowl...

personal method, actually I like that term "size of pencil erasers", one nug around that small in the bottom of the bowl to hold everything, then a little bit finer grind on everything on top. Gets going nicely, and the nug in the bottom burns a bit slower for a longer smoke. Though, I only smoke by myself when I've got the mary, and friends tend to hit "genie" as hard as they can ;-).

Thumb screwers are the only way to pack a bowl..;)

I'm not that fussy most of the time. When i'm smoking alone I take more care in packing bowls and rolling joints, I suppose. But i've never really thought about exactly how I pack a bowl... I guess I do the same kinda thing as you, lemonboy. Next time I can afford some weed (grrrrrrr!) i'll think about it! :)

I like to pack a nice bowl when I'm with people too. Most of the people I smoke with are family members and lets just say they aren't as devoted to our little art as I am. They just don't have a clue. A nice hitting-bowl is my attempt to educate the world of pot smokers :)

It's something to think about and makes for a nicer experience, whatever your preference. Just be deliberate.

I tend to try to perfect the current task at hand. Needless to say it has taken LOTS of practice :D

Practice makes perfect, here's for another round of practice anyone that can! Toke it up for me too!

Usually If I'm smoking alone, I do it carelessly. Because I want to hurry up and smoke it. But if i'm around people, I'll cut it up and pack as much into the bowl as I can.

When I'm driving however. I usually already have shake and cut up weed ready for those times of needs, I just dip it in the bag, and use my thumb to push it in there. Works pretty good!:)

Interesting. You know, most people that smoke tobacco pipes seem to have rituals they follow for preparing and packing the tobacco. Funny not to see a more overwhelming response in our little clique.
