new to growing and new member, take a peek at my mistys
Wanted to have a go so appropriated some "misty" seeds.
As an inexperianced grower i would like opinions on how they look (they are about 14-17 days old, i cant remember what the date was when i planted them).
Some leave tips got slightly singed (oops!) by the lights.
I water with a dilute plant food and have recently started misting it with the same once a day. I have two 100-watt bulbs and a 60watt bulb on them, i wasnt prepared to fork out for a proper light setup, but they seem to be growing.
Also, curiously, the stronger plant used to be the less strong one. it sustained a break at its base, which healed, i think into a thicker stalk. I have also noticed that the leaves on this one are growing ALOT faster than the other. Related?? A new technique discovered???
Let me know what you think.
Cheers.
(also, has anyone smoked misty before? whats it like?)

PS: i forgot to mention, i had completely insufficient light to start with, for maybe 3or4 days, the seedlings became very very long and spindly, i replanted them deeper to support the stem and upped the light considerably and moved the light alot closer, they appear to be better now, i have also noticed upon inspection that roots have started to grow out from what used to be stem.
I have since pruned off the lowest 2 pairs of leaves aswel.
This all sound ok-ish?

Well they look healthy enuff but if you dont get some real light on them, whats the point?
You might harvest a joint at this rate.
You need some real light.
You also say roots are growing from what used to be stem....?
I think that is probably vegetative stuff. If you can see roots you have more problems.
Nice and healthy plants just not enuff light to do anything with them :)
Good luck!

Light, Light, Light. At the very, very least, get a couple of Full Spectrum CFLs. They will run you maybe 12$ a peice. And you'll never look back.

I have no doubt that my light isnt ideal at all but they are growing, and it feels like useful experiance as my first grow.
My current bulbs i think are 8000K flourescents. These CFL's u mention, would they plug into a regular lamp?
Cheers for the help!

Misty there are no CFL's that are 8,000K.
I am not sure a plant could live under that either.
You can buy some real light bulbs that screw into a regular socket that will do the job here....

scroll down to the 65W bulbs.
They provide 4100 lumens per bulb. Get yourself two of those and you will have no more light problems for the duration of your veg cycle.
You will see instant results and no more sticks and stems :)

good link H...that will get a shitload of people buying cfl's...good prices...You just gave me an idea...I have list of sites; where I have found the best prices...perhaps I will post a thread...

i wasnt sure about the 8000K thing anyway.
The bulbs i have are equivalent to the 26watters there, the ones with 1800lumens.
Unfortunately, i dont think that site posts to my country [somewhere in europe...].
Im currently looking at some HPS/metal halide stuff on eBay, if i can find a couple of those 65w CFLs there... well, we'll see.
cheers

good plan misty, just get some CFLs fast so you can have the lights closer to the plants. That'll get em growing crazy fast.

my lights are CFLs, just relatively low wattage, [200w over 2 plants in one pot] , and I already keep them just a couple of centimetres of the top leaves.
One other thing iv been wondering about: should i surrond the plants and lights with foil or white paper? instinct says foil but i dont know really.
