This time of year the color of the sun and the duration of the light could make the flower early.
So you start your seedlings in February, near the window, then say when its a one half foot tall you place outside?
Not a bad move in theory, however, it is likely your plant will reach 6" in height in 2 weeks with window only light.
The window only light simply isn't sufficient at the end of winter to grow window sill weed. Its hours are too short and the sectrum changes from morning to evening every day thus robbing you of good Kelvin temps all day long.
You could accomplish the same thing by just planting outside in April.
By the end of the month, the outside planted plant will be far healthier and bushier than a plant grown on a windowsill in February or March.
ya but wouldent it be a head start???
You missed my point entirely.
Your head start with window sill light would do more damage to the plant than good would do.
Your plant will climb, have 6" - 8" of internodal length, at least, and by the time spring came around you would have a physically mature plant that has already become a gumby plant of sticks and stems and maybe a few leaves.
Thats not really a head start....well not the kind I would think you would want.
alright harddon i think i see what your talken about now. so the window sill idea is good but its just the winter light thats bad ????? the only reason that i wanted to do this is so that ican start the plant off like just a little bitafter that i willput it outside. so hows that???lol
peace~
No. Windowsill light isnt sufficient for anything,,,,especially in late winter.
You could grow inside under CFL's and then move outside :)
Or, jsut plant in early spring.
THey need light the second they pop their heads outta the earth.
