my plants dont seem to be growing as fast as they were at first they look healthy and green.they are staying healthy .I took your advice and put them closer to the light doing great at staying compact especially since its a sativa strain. do you have any ideas why the growth has slowed so much. they are about 2weeks into veg. I improved the setup of my cabinet. I put up aluminum foil on all sides and the top and put two extra floro tubes in to go along with the floro bulb i have. im new to growing so any comments or advice is great . ive seen the pics of your plants and its clear that you know what your doing.

Okay, the aluminum foil, did you put the dull side out?. Or the shiney side out? You want to have the dull side of the foil doing the reflecting. The shiney side absorbs too much of the light.

How many watts are you running? Now you mean slow, how slow are we talking? Regular growth rate from what I've seen 2 weeks into veg, is that the plant should be growing, or emerging at least 2 new sets of leaves every few-3 days. That is an approximation.

How often are you watering? Do you let the soil dry out completly before watering again? Overwatering will slow growth big time. Only water when the soil is dry. Letting your plant go through a complete wet/dry cycle will insure strong, healthy roots.

Have you started feeding yet? You have drain holes in the bottom of your plant container? No drainage will slow growth and result in root rot.

Do you have any pictures? A picture is worth a thousand words ;)

thanks for all your help. the plants arent produceing new sets of leaves they arent even getting any taller. I looked at them this morning and the tips of the big leaves are starting to droop and the last new leaves are growing straight up instead of outward loks almost like the leaves are trying to cloe up together a friend told me that it was the strain . one plant has red stems and the other has purplestems. I think i might be over watering because since i put my new floro tubes in the soil completely dries up within about 5 hours. i havent started feeding yet .do you think i should . up untilnow they were looking good except for they arent producing leaves like they should be.not sure about the lights i think ther is enough light ihave two 2o inch floro tubes and a sunshine floro bulb puts of a lot of light.

The soil is drying up within 5hrs?! Ohh...that's a problem friend. What's the temp like in your room? Sounds to me like the heat it drying up your soil. Do you have a fan blowing in growroom or area? If not, you need one if those plants are going to survive. You're putting your plant through severe heat stress and that is probably what is stunting its growth. If you can't get a fan though, move your lights up about 5-6inches from the top of plants.

That is the only reason I can think of of why your soil would be drying up too fast. Get a fan man, you can buy small one at Wal-mart for under $10. You keep this up it's just going to die on you.

Don't give it any nutes yet. Wait until she is healthy again before doing that as you might risk burning her up. Good luck :cool:

its the floro tubes that cause the extra heat so when i have them on i run the desk fan i have in the cabinet the temp is around 75 degrees. thats about right isnt it? ithink the plants just were needing water badly because they look pretty good now i watered them this morning and am just running the one bulb right now no signs of heat damage.

Oh okay. 75degF is a good number. You should water about once every 3-4 days. If the soil is drying up in 5hrs, there is some serious heat going on, but if the problem is fixed, good job :cool: Peace
