If you use the paper towel technique -
Do all the usual stuff -
Wring out moistened towel out to damp only. Buy a gallon of distilled water definitely if using good seeds - If you fold towel in thirds you can do at least 18 seeds. Wrap folded towel and then inside a couple thicknesses of tinfoil. Not air tight but make good seams and creases for good luck.
Now.
If you place your package on a 90 - 97 place some will want to go into sprouting medium next day.
If you need more time to get sprouting gear together then either wait or let 'em sit at room temp.
Easier to drop (plant) them when you don't have a 1" or longer curly cue to wrestle into the narrowest hole you can make. You want the new root to be up against damp stuff, not a pocket of air from a pencil size hole. If I see em peeking out at all that's good enough for me.
I lost a lot just for waiting too long If you don't getting em within a day and a half of seed cracking, you can mess up sprouts real easy.
Vermiculite would probably be easier than the potting mixI used.
Have plastic domes or Saran Wrap tent for warm humidity - helps planted rootshoot (!!! plant shootsprout downward - that's the root!!!) will push that seed shell right on up to life within a couple days after going in.
Keep flourscent lamps or not too hot a lamp 2" or so over your moisture dome.
Piece o cake.
Do it the way nature intended..Sow that seed !
