Another question for Zandor.........
Zandor, i saw a thread a bit back with instructions on how to make your own carbon air filter. If you could run it by me with what materials i need and how to make one i would forever appreciate it.
I'm just a student asking for knowledge from the professor. :)

You get 4 furnace filters not cheep ones and not expensive ones. Get the ones that cost about 5 bucks at HD. They have a metal screen on one side to add support. Place the first one with the metal down. Add 2 pounds of active charcoal and spread it around (I get mine from the fish store that sells pond stuff it cost 4 bucks a pound). Then you place another filter (screen side down) add another 2-pound bag of charcoal then the third filter and the last 2 pound bag of charcoal. Last you want to place the last filter with the metal screen side up. Line them all up and use gray tape to seal all the ends together so the air can only go through the filter and not lose any charcoal out the ends. Make a box that all 4 filters fit snugly in. At the top of the box leave about 8? of space. Install your fart fan at the top of your box the 8? spacing will help to even out the air pressure on the intake. Now I use a furnace screen like a house uses slightly larger then the filters so with 4 screws I can change it out and access what I need to. Mine is installed in the roof and the return just pumps it back into my room. Really it??s that easy the whole thing is to seal all the filters together so they are just one thick filter and to have the air gap at the top so your fart fan does not just draw air from one place in the filter.
It really does work.

It's just odor control.
Cool temperatures are the best way to control odor but that's not alway's the case. So carbon scrubbers take care of the rest of the time.
Happy growing
Another question for Zandor.........
Zandor, I took your advice and ran with it. I got all the materials needed and got to work. In pic 1 you can see that i placed the filter with the metal screen side down. Pic 2 is how i layered the activated carbon. Pic 3 is how i put the second filter over the first one with the metal screen side up. I made two of these and ducted taped those together to form one big filter. I found a box big enough to be the housing. I cut the square hole toward the bottom of the box where the most carbon will be in the filter so the air that flows through, flows through the carbon. On the other side i cut a six inch circle where the fart fan was inserted. I have the fart fan on a timer and speed control. Do you think that this will take care of the odor for a 6' x 9' room? Again thanks for the help Zandor.
Happy Growin!!!!!!!!!1 :D :D :D

Cardboard will absorb the odor and leak out. Door skins are easy to cut with a utility knife. That's about as thin as you can get. It works better if there is an open space where the blower goes. That way the suction pressure through the filter is spread out evenly over the whole screen.
You got the right idea, props to you. :)
