175watt mv or 70watt mh
I have a question the light i have is a 175watt mercury vapor I know this sucks but I was told a 70watt metal halide would run off the same ballast I asked a guy at the electric supply store and he said it should work does anyone know for sure and if so which is better

i think the metal halide is better.....the mercury vapor light can be used but only for a couple of hours a day in conjuction with an hps or another metal halide light.....on it's own a mercury vapor can't grow a plant, it can be used only as a supplemental light while in flowering, in order to make the plant produce more resin cause the mv light produces harmful radiation...
stick on the metal halide, it has blue spectrum which is essential for the plant

but can i run the same wattage metal halide as mercury vapor?
Or does it have to be a 70 mh in the original 175 mv

so if the mv light produces harmful radiation, why use it?
am I to get that using its radiation potency for certain lengths of time can positively effect the upgrowth of the plant?
