Cloning experts, what do pre-roots look like?

Ok, I heard that when roots are forming, that they kinda look like white bubbles on the stem. Is this true....what do they look like? Also, how long should roots be before the clone can be planted in medium(dirt)? The mix that I am going to use for my clones are as follows:1/3 regular potting soil, 1/3 miracle grow potting mix, 1/3 high grade peat moss. Sound good? Suggestions welcome. Thanks all. P.S. yall are gonna laugh,(especially harddon!!) but check out how I am doing this clone....its an experiment, so dont be harsh!! The reason that I did this is because I know that roots dont like light...I am changing the water every other day, and now there are these white nubs comming on, I think they are the roots poking out, but not sure. If they are roots, then its cool cause its only been 5-6 days since I broke the branch, and my method worked. Whatcha think?

cloning 101...they look like little prickly white beard stubble.

I know what the root looks like, but before the root actually comes out....there is a spot where the root is going to be. What does that look like? Im sure thet I read somewhere on here that it looks like a white bubble in the stem. Is that correct? Also, what do you think of my experemental set-up? You think it will work?

thats a pretty tight set-up you got there....if you want to, and have the time, I would like to get your specs. so I could build one. If you want that is...my email is [email protected] you could send them there so I can print them out. what I mean by specs. is like materials used, and step by steps on how to build and use, ect. That would be really cool, if you got the time.-emtpockets:)

you need 2 wait for the plants roots to begin pushing out a little more
when i was growing and cloning i would wait inbetween 1-2 weeks to see if the roots have gained enough strenth 2 handle the soil shock they get during putting them back into soil groweth

I let mine get about 3" so I can spread them over the bottom layer of hydroton, then I fill it up to support main shaft...
yeah, I'll send you a tute' when I get a chance later...I ended up w/12 out of 14
a couple are still small rooted,but there coming so i'm waiting...later
