Why would you bother?
Well, it doesn't take long and is completely anonymous, but the best reason is because you want some real answers. Like, why does cannabis affect different people in different ways? Or, how much can you use before it affects your daily life?

What makes this research different from what others have done before?
Well, for a start, a realistic take on cannabis use - I know that using 3 times a week is not heavy use, and that using every day doesn't automatically mean that you're addicted. I know that how often you use isn't the same as the amount you use, and that having a cone is different to smoking a joint.

And, importantly, I genuinely want to get some answers. I don't have an agenda to push. Well, other than that people should be able to make informed decisions about their substance use. To do that you need to have reliable and unbiased info available, and I don't think that the research out there provides that - which is why I'm doing this study.

Before I do it I have to know if you smoke or not. I'm tired of anal researchers trying to understand/explain something they have never done.

Yeah, I've smoked - but not for a while - I had kids and that changed my life heaps. Also, my partner never liked me using, so I stopped. But you know, that doesn't mean I won't ever use again, and doesn't mean I'm anti drugs or anything.

I do share your frustration regarding researchers who don't know anything about it - which is why I'm doing this research. I'm amazed at some of the stuff that gets published, like studies where they say that using 1/month is regular use, or those that classify people as 'users' if they have used once in their life.

Some of the things I'm interested in are the supposed links between cannabis and depression/suicidality (I don't think using cannabis makes you depressed), and the differences in experiences with regards to smoking a joint or pulling a cone - no-one seems to do research into different methods of administration.

What I'm hoping to be able to do with the data is work out how much cannabis you can use before it impacts on your daily life - that's if it does have an impact. Just like we know that you can have X number of alcoholic drinks before you are over the driving limit, and so many a day before it affects your health - I'd like to be able to provide the same sort of guidelines for cannabis use.
