Mary Jane: A "hard drug"

I went to the doctors today about some medicine and he made sure to tell me not to drink on the medicine. He then goes you don't do any other drugs do you? (I smoke weed everyday, but who doesn't) Then he goes any hard drugs like marijuana or cocaine. I laughed out loud and go no I wouldn't touch that(referring to cocaine). Then I go "yeah i've smoked a few times though."

I mean to classify marijuana and cocaine together thats some bullshit right there. I wanted to get in a fight with the dude and lay down some facts, but I was really anxious to get out of there cause I hate medical places.

Question: From anyones point of view, what could be any similarity between weed and coke that doctors would think they are both hard drugs while alcohol is acceptable?

i was a coke/ heroin addict for many yrs before i got help and there is no comparision as a matter of fact the weed was what helped me to get off that shit that and several yrs of attending a methadone clinic.. as long as i dont run out of weed i dont really think about using hard drugs that much any more but im sure your doc was just telling you what he had been trained to tell you.. its a shame that more docs wont take the time to learn the truth about cannibis and its many medical uses

party drugs comes to mind right away? You'd think a Dr would know what stereotyping is. But maybe they did'nt teach him common sense at school :p

I was pretty straight with the dude telling him I was there because I was referred by a drug counselor who wanted to put me on anti-deprresants cause he thought i smoked because I was depressed. I didn't ever think he thought as weed and cocaine in the same class. Not even close. I guess ill have to be a doctor so I can tell kids, "i'd prescribe a drug for your symptons, but i think you only need a joint!"

dude DO NOT allow this quack to prescribe a anti depressent to you with out doing some research your self first on the drug he is prescribing there have been numerous cases of teenagers commiting suicide after being placed on these drugs some of the ones ive heard this about include paxil / zoloft / prozac/ and a few others that i cant recall at the moment i hope this works out for you and

tramadol is weak, i only take it when i cant get the real pain meds. just look at the dosage. u have to take 100-200 mg to feel it and u can take 10-20 of vicodin or hydrocodone and get a better buzz

Yeah tramadol is shit, anecdotal evidence indicates it may be good for withdrawals though.

Personally I don't believe in any sort of line seperating 'hard' or 'soft' drugs. Where do you draw it? Addictiveness? Natural vs. synthetic?
Addiction is a matter of self control, and natural doesn't mean safe.

i think the doctor was trying to trick you into being like "weeds a hard drug?"
