(CBS) LONGMONT, Colo. A new candy on the streets is getting the notice of area police. It looks similar to Jolly Rancher hard candy, but investigators say "weed candy" is a dangerous treat, KCNC-TV in Denver reports.
Longmont police say Katherine Cline, 25, appeared intoxicated when she was recently stopped for driving on the wrong side of the street. When asked about a bag of hard red candy found in her car, the dancer at the Bustop adult club allegedly told the officers it was "weed candy."
According to officers, Cline then said she had purchased the candy in Boulder, that it circulated around Boulder easily and was sold on the street regularly.
Police say "weed candy" looks like a Jolly Rancher only it is homemade and laced with THC, the chemical in marijuana experts say makes people feel elated.
According to the police report, the suspect explained that a person can get the same high as smoking a marijuana cigarette, but without the marijuana smell, or, in her words, "the fuzzy head feeling."
Police told KCNC-TV they are concerned about weed candy's ability to be easily concealed. The batch of candy recently confiscated had a cinnamon odor to it.
