War of Worlds Review (SPOILERS)
I saw the flick opening night on Wednesday. War of the Worlds is nothing but a great mindless action flick. Nothing more. The story is basically about aliens commondering big ass tri-pod vehicles that they use to destroy entire cities in minutes and vaperoize people into thin air. Also these tri-pods have shields on them, so all militay effort to stop these things are futile. The whole movie takes place revolving around a family. The father(Cruise) Dokota Fanning(the 10 yr old daughter) and the oldest son who is 15. I forget the names of the characters. Well during all the mayhem the family heads to Boston. While getting there they come through a whole slew of angry mobs and pissed off Alien tripods. They always narrowly avoid getting killed countless times.
The story tells that the Tripods have been under the ground since the dawn of man? How? Who knows, the movie never tells. Why are aliens attacking us now after thousands of years? Who knows. Maybe they havent been laid in a while. All thoughts are up in the air on why everything is happening. While they are fleeing to Boston, the family constantly bickers at one another even while the end of the world is at foot. The family loses the son, because he wants to be Captain America and battle 200 foot tripods. So, they get stuck in a basement with a crazy ambulance driver. They decide to wait out the mayhem till everything looks alright. During this time you actually see the Alien vistors. They decide to scoop out the basement while everybody is playing stealth tatics hiding in dark corners and such trying to avoid the alien menace. This is when you see the even darker side of the aliens. You see at one point a tripod stick a big ass needle into a person and suck the person dry of all his organs and blood. Apparently, we're quite the tasty delicacy for the aliens. Well Cruises character kills the crazy ambulance driver cause he wouldn't stop talking, afraid that he would give up their location. During all this aliens take little Dokota fanning and Crusise takes chase. The Aliens eventually pick them both up and put them in cages where other several people and being imprisoned. A device similar to a Claw toy machine picks up the people from their cages. They just so happen to pick who Cruise(before this he took some gernades he found laying on the ground) All the people grab onto his leg and try to free him, it works, but the claw like thing took the gerande with it. BLAM The thing explodes and comes crashing down, somehow, everyone escapes without a broken bone or anything.
The people then venture on foot to the nearest city. The military is escorting hordes of people to military bases and such. Then a tri-pod appears, Oh shit, then Cruise notices that there are birds on the tri-pods. Their sheilds are down somehow. The military makes short work the the tri-pods and everybody cheers and screams Hoo-Ray! The family makes it to Boston and finds the lost son waiting at the mothers home. End movie. No Joke. The narrartor then tells that our own blood some how disabled the shields? How? Who knows, maybe someone had aids. All and all the plot was lacking. The movie was rushed, but still good non-the-less if you like mindless action flicks.

war of the worlds
yea its an alright flick, kind of a bland family understory with tom cruise as the failed divorced dad
but other than that it was an entertaining flick
