is it possible to grow woth just a ordinary household light bulb just curious.

Well ya it's possible, but it takes a very long time and nothing will produce worthwhile. Just spend the extra bucks and get a few CFL's.

Ok, but it's cheaper to run CFL's with built in ballasts than in is to run normal bulbs.

If you want a little, a little you will get with a normal bulb. It will take at least three times as long as normal to grow a pot plant and get maybe 1g. You're looking at 9months to produce 1-3g's? Come on, that's just lame.

With CFL's not only is it cheaper on electricity than normal bulbs, you can produce 5-15g's in 2-4months. Think about it.

i plan on getting a 150w fluro on thursday and dieciede that instead of growing just for shits and giggles maybe try to pull out an ouce out of this project

When I first started growing I was using only 65W of CFL's, veg and flower. I still managed to produce about 8g's of decent weed every 3months or so.

A lot of people have said you need at least 50W per sq.ft to get a good yeild. So if you put 150W CFL(s) in a box about 2.5-3ft square you can get pretty close to a gram per watt yeild. Sounds not bad eh? Takes up the same space as a normal bulbs but produces over 50x more. Give it a go and keep us updated. Good luck!

jsut go by some grow flourecents their like 14 dollars each get like 2 that will work hell of a lot better then a house light i was useing floursecnts and my plant was like 2 feet tall with in like 6 weeks but my step dad found it :(
