William Sink, his girlfriend Melissa Broughman and her two kids were hungry Thursday night and didn't want to cook.
"We decided to go up to little caesar's and get a pizza," Sink said.
They ordered two pepperoni pizzas and ate almost all of them before they realized... what sink says were some added toppings.
"I noticed it hat green looking flakes on the pepperoni pizza," Sink said. "That just ain't right. When asked why he didn't just assume the flakes were dried herbs, he said. "Well, it had little stems in it and then I smelt it and I knew it wasn't basil or any kind of oregano."
Sink suspected it was marijuana and called Vinton Police. An officer came out, tested the flakes, and sink was right? it was marijuana.
Police recommended the family go to the emergency room... which they did. Tests at Carilion's Community Hospital revealed all four suffered from marijuana poisoning... a medical term that means they were exposed to marijuana and had it in their systems.
Melissa and her oldest daughter say it made them nauseated... even making them throw-up.
"It's strange and it's a shame that you can't somewhere and eat and not know what you're getting," Sink said.
Now to the great mystery... how did the marijuana get on the pizza? Vinton Police want to know the answer and so does the owner of the Vinton's Little Caesar's franchise... who's not so sure it happened at his store.
"We take these complaints very seriously," said Pat Flanigan, who owns 19 area Little Caesar's restaurants around the area.
Flanigan says they get bogus complaints all the time... and he questions a discrepancy between Sink's story... that there was marijuana on the pizza and pizza box... and the police report that says the marijuana was only on the box.
"Probably every one of our stores at least once a week are hit with some sort of scam for free food, refund after they've eaten the pizza," Flanigan said.
Still, Flanigan says as a result of the complaint, he has ordered all employees at the Vinton Little Caesar's to undergo drug testing. Anyone who fails the test or refuses to take it will be terminated.
Meanwhile sink and Melissa say it's no scam... they just want to make sure that others are warned.
"The public needs to know to be careful," Sink said. He also says they will probably contact an attorney.
Police continue to investigate.

If the weed was on the box only,how could the family ingest enough to even show up on a drug test ? Doesn't the cop who wrote the report,realize that it was because the weed was on the pizza,that the family ingested it and it resulted in a positive test ? Or , does the cop believe that the family set aside the pizza,and consumed only the 'green flakes' ?
Also,doesn't it take more than just some 'flakes',to git high to the point of nausea ? I reckon that the mom and daughter,got sick because of their own hysterical reaction to the news that they had been 'poisoned'.

if i found out i had weed on my pizza, i would of peeled it off and smoked it.

Howdy wooman,
I don't think that anyone started throwing up,until they were told that they may have been 'poisoned' by the weed..it just don't seem like enuff weed to even git a feller high,to me.

That story does not make sense, the cop seems to be retarted they went to hospital and came up positive, but they are saying there was none on pizza, sounds fishy to me, it sounds like a made up story!!! Where did u find this story torog, and u copied and pasted it, i presume, right?? because the reporter or whoever wrote it had spelling errors, there was grammor errors in the story.

also, stupid reporter, does that not sound stupid, they didnt want to cook, who would put that? a good reporter would have just said the family had an evening out to eat or something like that

lol. when i see somthing green and solid i ussaly think to my self, OMG, is that what i think it is! with a big smile on my face.
then my smile gets wiped off when i find out its just cooking spices or somthing.
