gorwing to help pain

Ello all,
as most of you know i have been smoking for 16 years now but as we have just found out my wife has arthritis on the lower back and hips, and as most of you know smoking weed helps the pain.
So i am going to start growing just a few plants to help the wife as it cost to much for as to buy weed round my way, and cant turst postman as most of you know :(
So can anyone help me by telling me what i need to start. i have nothing and dont know where to start.
