My First Grow OP

I'm still in the process of planning, nothing is for sure yet. I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinions before I dive right in.

My goal is to average 2 ounces in dry weight per plant. My grow space is 9' x 9', and I'm going to have 81 plants. I was told that I should be fine as long as I have no more than 1 plant per square foot.

Since it is my first time growing, I'm growing in soil. Hydroponics seems like too much of a hassle, and honestly even though I might get a bigger yield it's no more beneficial. I'll pay more in electricity, so the extra yield doesn't really do much other than make up for that.

I plan on vegging for 4 weeks in 3 gallon pots, and flowering for 8. I'll be growing BC God Bud.

Since I'm using the SOG method, the plants won't have much time to develop a lot of branches. So the majority of the weight will come from the main cola, with very little branching.

I've seen SOG setups with 4 plants per square foot, so with that being said my plants will have plenty of room to breathe. There will be room for them to develop some branches.

The reason I'm coming to you guys isn't so much for advice on the grow space, it's the equipment and the nutrients.

I'm not sure whether four 600w lights will suffice, or if I should up it to the 1000 watters. And I also need some recommendations as far as online retailers go. I need to get my reflector hoods, inline fans and carbon filters.

Also, soil. I'd like a good organic soil.

If you don't think I can achieve 2 oz's per plant organically, then I'll use chemical nutrients if I have to.

2 ounces per plant under those conditions is do-able. With that many plants for a first grow I'd try and keep things simple as possible. Welcome!

More bud is always worth more. Imo Sounds very much like my grow style, think I might go with the 600's, or maybe adjustables. Think you need the three gal pots? But it will give you lots of room for roots, bet it's tight on the floor. Should be fine if you can walk it.

Do you think 1000w lights would be better for that many plants?

BF- Going from seed? Going to take several because of males.

The amount of light greatly affects the total dry weight outcome. The more lumens you can cram into that space the more beneficial it is for the plants. With that many plants, I wouldn't go any smaller on wattage. Also, that seems like a huge undertaking for a first time grower. Are you growing soil or hydro. If hydro, you will need to add Co2, lots of air flow and steady temps between 73 and 83, any higher or lower and you'll notice stunted growth. So exhausting the heat is A HUGE key factor. Either way you go you'll also have to take precautions when it comes to plant issues such as: bugs, mildew, mold and various other things that you WILL encounter. You may want help from someone with experience, or cut the grow down to a more manageable number (6-10)- for a "First Timer."
