Good Evening,
General Question: Has anyone ever used GA to boost growth during veg state? I searched the forums but no hits. I have tried it with strawberries and tomatoes and they seem to affect stem growth rather than leaf/flower growth. I have never tried with mj.
Any ones out there tried? How were the results? I am going to try it next time, but wanted to know if I will be just burning rubber...ya dig:thumbsup:

Seriously, we tried the hell out of GA in the '60s.
Got elongated stems, spindly, sickly plants.
No waste your time.
Around the same time, there was a brief fling with soaking seeds in Colchicine to cause mutations.
Tryin' to turn hemp seed into polyploid ganja.
We even used a friendly dentist's X-ray machine to smash a few genes. :D
There were some small gains, but that's a different story.

Much Thanks for the info. So hormones are out of question for large increase in mass over short period of time...lol...I guess technique must kick in
Also, about the polyploid issue..just FYI.....I came across a strain from the norcal area. I had 2 females. I applied many stresses to get some male characteristics. I mean, this plant was like f!cking king kong when it came to handling stress. Both plants were alive for about 8mos and went thru overheating, cooling (below 50F), crazy photoperiods I mean I left these plants in dark places for days and then put them in light for days and all kinds of things......no male characteristics after that time. I did all the stuff that causes it, none worked. I did not however apply "chemical" stress for fear of killing them
As you can tell, I really wanted beans from this stalk (even more so as I saw how it handled physical stress). In the end, I left outside and came back and the plants were brown, but not brittle, just brown. Anyways, I still smoked them....

But, here's what I remember 50 years later.
On normal exposure, there seemed to be no effect.
Damn machine had all kinds of "safety features" and a short timer.
It took us many exposures.
Stayed up 'til dawn one night hitting the button.
About a 95% kill rate once we hit them hard enough.
The ones that sprouted either appeared to be normal at first, or hit the dirt twisted.
Had one that was pure white.
Really wanted to grow that one out.
Grew 2 sets of leaves, then imploded.
I'm guessin, no chlorophyll.
The seeds were ditchweed.
("Tryin' to make a dollar out of 15 cents." :D)
No toxic waste superheros were created that run.
What did make it to maturity, was still ditchweed.
No polyploid vigor, no giants, no killer dope. :)
Guess that only happens in comic books. :D
Most mutations are no improvement.
Quite the contrary, now that I know the odds.

Weezard, is it a myth that germinating in Gibberillic Acid will produce female seeds? I've read that in a book, was on extras you could do to ensure more females. Thanks!
Yes.
Gibberellic acid will cause stem elongation.
But as far as I know will not feminize seeds.
I think that same book recommends Colchicine too.
We made our own from Iris corms.
Killed a lot of seeds with it. :(
The real way to produce feminized seed, is to use XX pollen from a "hermie" on a stable female .
No Y chromosome, no males.
