What is, in your opinion, the "best" material for handling Cannabis? I'm thinking nitrile gloves may get the smell on it, and not be good, not sure if any other residue would get on it... So perhaps just the basic food grade "plastic wrap" gloves? What would you think?
I'm new to cannabis growing, but with regular gardening you usually don't need gloves unless the plants are prickly. Some are sensitive, but I'd think the only thing you need for sensitive plants would be cotton gloves.
Most pharmacies have cotton medical-type gloves near the regular nitrile and latex type gloves. I know mine does! :) I usually use cotton-based gloves in my garden, and am fairly careful with most of my plants that are delicate or young especially. Cotton gloves help the most unless there are thorns or long prickers.
Hahah, yeah, I have some of those cotton style gloves as well as nitrile, "plastic wrap", PVA, etc. I'm thinking, now that you mention it, [thanks for the idea, by the way!] for handling dried flowers and the likes (as well as dealing with the plant, just tending in general) cotton would be the best, because you don't have to worry about odd residues (due to the nature of the materials of the other types of gloves) coming off and being consumed. And my reasons for wanting to handle flowers with gloves in the first place is just to maintain cleanliness, just a little "pet peeve" of mine, ahah, and it just feels better to know you're not getting any human contact until you actually take it to consume it. :) (Not the most logical reasons, but I just feel better doing it, if it doesn't hurt, why not?)Quote:

Just make sure you wash them after EACH use to make sure no contamination (wash per instructions, though possibly with your other white laundry would be Ok too - not sure as I've not looked at it yet).
As for my other plants, I just use a cotton gardening glove generally. BUT, if you are looking for cotton medical gloves, check out Walgreens if you are in the USA - should be with all the other gloves and are not too expensive from what I've seen. I've not checked Walmart personally, though to have a fair amount of them theirs might be better financially. :)
Just when washing - MAKE SURE you do an extra rinse in the washer, and then AIR DRY to keep any other chemicals out. Also, NO softener or anything other than simple detergent or you could introduce something to the buds... Just a thought. :)
Nitrile are good not much sticks to them cotton is a no no because cannabis is very sticky and you don't want cotton fibers in your smoke, when trimming latex gloves will collect resin on the finger tips that can be removed and smoked, vinyl is just plain wrong.
I've been handed latex gloves to assist in another persons grow, but personally I use unscented antibacterial soap, water, and a couple of paper towels then get to work.
