The party bulbs are nothing but incandescent lights that are tinted and are no good for growing. You need a light that puts out a red-orange light spectrum for flowering not just a red light. If you still plan on growing in a trash can heat will be an issue. Maybe some 5000K or 6500K CFL's for veg and some 2700k CFL's for flower. I'm not experienced with LED lights so I would have to websearch for info on those.
but where can I find them ? that's the one thing im not sure of at all where to find. The can since I have all CLF around the side and an LED around the top it does not get hot . I left it running yesterday after I finished getting the bulbs set up and I left a pot with just soil in there starting at 7am and around 10pm when I went to shut it off I took a soil temp that was right at 83 degrees the soil was dry when I put it in so not sure if it affected the temp but I thought it was a good temp. it stays around 65 degrees in our house just due to weather so I was worried about the temp during the night for when I swich to 12/12 so I checked the soil temp this morning after its been all off an the soil was 71 degrees so I think I should be good with temps , the LED is awesome it doesn't get hot at all only to touch but nothing more a then that.
BUT IF ANYONE COULD PLZ!!! help me with where to find the red CFLs for flowering that would really HELP???????
ok I think I hav it now . the CFLs arnt actually red . I just need to get 2700k CFLs right ? There NOT red ???? or are they red in color??
Exactly the lights aren't "red" as we see color they have a reddish-orange hue(not the physical bulb color, but the "color" of the photons). If you look on the side/back of the box you should see something like this. These are my veg lights I'm using a HPS for flower. Notice the K scale warm or 2000K to cool or 6500K. You can get them pretty much anywhere.
thanks dabs4all . I guess I was confused on that. I mean remember what im growing lol  im good now thank guys:thumbsup:
You can try Reflective Red Mulch Film it's used to increase tomato and strawberry production. It only reflects red absorbing the other colors.
well i switched my lighting to 3 CFL 5000k around the side and my 5000k LED top light, added more ventilation and another PC fan at the top . My temps stay at 79-80
i dropped the Miracle Gro for Calloways organic mix , switched the scotts for Jobes organic all purpose . added some Horticulural Molasses and some Alaska fish fertz. to my nut list.
and i have some Hemp string i plan on doing some LST on my plant .
So with that being said i just dropped my seed , its time to grow :)
i did have a question ive been doing some reading on people doing LST with scotch tape . and was wondering if anyone has ever used that method and how was the finished product?
I use pieces of insulated (or uninsulated) solid copper wire, like house wiring. 12 or 14 AWG. Cut to length and reusable. I use these same pieces for hanging/drying. You can hook the ends to the pot or to the trunk of the plant. Plastic, nylon and other man made materials are superior to organic twine and such for gardening. Less chance of rot and other issues. Scotch tape? My dad mended a small branch on a tree with band aids once. But he wasn't the 'handiest' handyman. <G>
