toxicity or deficiency?

hey guys I know yer sposed to cut and paste the form and I tried and failed - so I'll try to give the pertinent details.

I have 6 plants, all planted in the local store's mix and amended to subcool's super soil recipe. of the six, my tangerine dream is struggling
badly, and a couple of my others are starting to exhibit the same symptoms.

they went into (clay) ground in early may without incident, and were doing fine until we got a couple of nights in the low 30's. a month later, the TD hasn't bounced back and I'm ready to pull it out and replace if it's really that cold sensitive.

I think what I have is either a deficiency from lockout(too much P?) or a toxicity from the hard well water. the water has a ph of 7, and isn't laden with sodium but is loaded with calcium. the plants have received only well and rain water, no liquid nutes.

the new leaves are coming out droopy, curled up on the edges, and pale. there is also some purpling on the new growth and upper stems. I'm super confident that it's not a macro nutrient deficiency, and am thinking it's a calcium or magnesium issue - but I don't know which direction.

does anybody recognize this? do I need an r/o system? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You can lower the PH of the water with vinegar or vitamin C to 6.5-6.6. Is the soil water logged, can it breath and what is the PH. Find out what the soil you got locally has in it then add up all the nutrients to see if you have too much of something. Try a foliar spray of kelp extract to see if they perk up.

thx for yer thoughts lipps - I like the suggestion of lowering the water's ph but I'm less convinced that ph is the culprit. the plant is in a yard of soil - half of it is above ground in a raised box and the other half is below ground which is clay. so I think there is certainly potential for the soil to be waterlogged - which is why I haven't been excited to try flushing it. I also like the idea of a kelp spray - I've never tried it before. cheers

well, is the soil dry or wet? If wet you can try carefully aerating it around the edges a little with a pitchfork?

well, now it's wet because I soaked her since we have a little heat wave going on. I know it looks overwatered but I don't think that's it - as far as aerating the soil I think it's porous enough it's just that it's in clay so there is no drainage.
