Relocation/Transport Question

Hi everyone! Newbie here. I have a buddy who is relocating to another state shortly. She's concerned about how to transport...her car or the movers that she hired to move her stuff. Any suggestions on which is safer? My suggestion was to pack the majority in a box and take a small amount with her. I tend to over-think things but was concerned about border patrol checkpoints, moving truck scales (being searched) and of course dogs. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
