question about preemployment saliva test

I know this is a 420 drug testing forum but i have a saliva test coming up in a week or so and they are testing for nicotine. I am a fairly regular smoker at about 1/2 pack a day but since i found out about it a week ago i cut down dramatically, down to about a cigarette or two a day and sometimes just hitting one a few times. My question is how long do things stay in your saliva and any tips on helping me pass?

I'm sorry, but (and correct me if I'm wrong BT) anything other than marijuana is prohibited on this forum, including nicotine.
