I have great job opportunity coming up (six figures) and absolutely, positively have to pass an impending pre-employment screen coming up. I have a few days left, possibly 1-2 weeks, and have been clean at least 4-5 weeks. Prior to that I smoked a small amount (2-4 single hit bowls) pretty much daily of mid-grade schwag. Over the past week I've been checking myself with a common retail testing kit, the First Check brand, and have been passing with a faint line on the drug line. I run regularly anyway and am fit with low body fat. Problem is, I've been sick with a bad cold so about 2 of the last 4 weeks I've been fairly sedentary but have been running with a vengeance the last 5 days. How reliable are these home testing kits and if I dilute prior should I be golden? Is it even worth diluting if I am passing the retail test which supposedly passes the federal SAMSHA cutoff standards? Should I consider substituting? This is a dream job and I'm so sick of my current one it would kill me to fail. I will be testing to work at a state hospital.

I can see the line, and the main expert here, Burnt Toast says that it is passing... which I would agree with. I took a test on Monday (it is now Saturday) and have not heard anything from the company I'm at with lines similar to that on home tests so far which is good. But I have failed a test before, and it took about 11 days for me to get the call from the MRO. But I was expecting to be dirty.. heavy smoking with only two weeks clean. Even those tests state that any line, no matter how faint, is still a NEG.
Did you use the first void of the day? That is when thc metabolites are their greatest concentration. If you pass a few tests doing that, you should be golden. Also, when it matters, use mid stream on the test.
But if you can, substitution is your sure fire way to pass. Just make sure you practice getting your temp within the 90-100 degree range.

Thanks bud, yesterday my first void clearly passed so I think I'm fine. I don't even have an official offer yet (only unofficial )so I'm thinking I have at least 4-5 days till I get tested. I aim to keep running and drinking fluids till I get an official offer from HR then stop exercise till after pissing. I've been eating meat and some mild creatine dosing (that stuff gives me the runs like crazy) so I'll do some light dilution as well on test day.

Don't forget the Vitamin B.
Also, I believe that you should probably stop running a few days before a test because THC is fat stored and the burning of fat will burn it. I could be wrong about this though.

If the first mornings void had been showing a positive, and the scheduled test is 3 days (or less) away, then all fat-burning activities should be curtailed and the body should revert to "storage mode" - be as dormant as possible - until after the U/A. That way the donor wouldnt be releasing a bunch of THCA into the bloodstream, which would end up in the urine to be detected.
If youre consistently testing negative with the first-mornings void (regardless of line intensity), youre good to go. No need for any dilution. Just drink enough fluids to where youre able to produce a sufficient volume of urine sample at the collection facility.
Also, drinking fluids is only helpful on the day of the U/A. Drinking a bunch of fluids in the days before the U/A is of no help. To find out why, utilize the Forum Search button with the terms "drinking water useless kidneys rate".
