Harvesting a various stages of trichome development. Any experience?

I've heard it all about when you should harvest and I want to see who has hands on experience harvesting a given strain at different stages of trichome development. What could you accurately say about your experience? People always have their opinions on when you should harvest, but I say it's strain + patient specific.

An Indica dominant hybrid and a Sativa strain will be very different at 10% amber. The negative effects of harvesting too early would probably be more pronounced with your heady Sativa strains. The negative effects of harvesting too late would likely be more pronounced with your Indicas.

Anyway, all thoughts welcome. I'm looking into this alot along with a few other aspects of growing because if you're going to spend all this time growing you want to get the result that WORKS FOR YOU! :thumbsup:

It took me since 2005 to learn: don't rush it, harvest just one plant; if it's an emergency :D...

...and let the rest go to 1%-5% amber.

All clear/cloudy trichs (for me) = fast, buzzy, restless high, with munchies :wtf:

Yep, I agree with DP....Don't rush, don't get in a hurry, and let the plant work and do it's thing. The AK47 strain I have is best (for me) at all cloudy...Hash plant does best at about 20% amber, again, for me. Hindu Kush seems best at about 5% and Blue Dream I can really let go until about 50%. Bottom line is, what do I want a particular strain to do for me, will determine how long I let it go. Working with some Pineapple Express and some Jack Herer now and I just don't know what these will do yet. Sometimes I will take a small bud sample and dry it and try it just to see what it does at that particular time and decide how long to let it go at that time. There is no real % of amber that applies to all strains all the time. Make it do what you want it to do, and that takes experimentation! Go mad scientists GO!

The good news is there is a pretty good sized window in terms of days, that the stuff takes to go from all cloudy to a significant % of amber, allowing time to check it at various percentages of amber! It's also great fun to see the differences the amber % makes in the way this stuff affects you at various parcentages! At least I always enjoy the testing! LOL!
