Getting a hummer

I just got a standard Magnetic 400 watt HPS. There is a small hum. Is it suppose to hum or is the ballast damaged?

Most magnetic ballasts hum/buzz, some amount. It means their happy!

Thanks for your reply. I always used a CFL bank until now.:pimp::thumbsup:
