Plant not growing at all

I'm a very inexperienced grower. I am currently growing 3 plants under 400w MH.

A white widow, an auto-flowering skunk and a purple haze (lets not start the "there is no purple haze strand anymore" discussion^^).
Now the WW and Skunk are growing great but the purple haze is literally not growing. The plant seems healthy but it refuses to grow at all.

This plant is, i kid you not, 10 days old. And i don't mean 10 days since germination i mean 10 days since it sprouted out of the ground.
I checked the roots and they seem to be growing fine so my question is. Is she going to decide to start growing at one point in her life or is she going to stay in this state forever until she decides to die? and does anyone know of any way to stimulate her to actually make leaves?

Hey, I noticed no one responded so ill do the best I can here. It's tough to tell what's going with such little information, but at a glance I would say you need to replant her. The soil you're using looks like it came from the ground which is no good for indoor growing. The soil needs to be able to aerate to get oxygen to the roots. Not doing so can cause the foliage to stunt it's growth while the roots desperately reach out to find some oxygen.

This is only a guess but doing this will certainly help your cause. Good luck.

If that's the case I would add a good amount of perlite just to aid in aeration. I can't see anything else wrong with what you're doing, but if you fill out the troubleshooting form in my sig maybe ill catch something.

well i tried replanting it. and well it didn't appear to die so far but looks slightly "less good" now. but that's to be expected with replanting a plant that's so young.

OK, lets see here.

The first thing I notice is that you are using a 400watt MH to grow from seed. seedlings prefer less light. a lot of growers start seeds/clones with fluorescent lights because of this. they are also cool to the touch so you can get em nice and close to the sprouts. HOWEVER, this shouldn't stunt the growth completely.

what exactly is "universal turf soil"? I've never heard of it. It looks like a very compact soil, which is no good for cannabis. the key to a good soil mix- for cannabis at least - is aeration. personally, I try and make my soil medium about 25% perlite at the least. 50% is optimal IMO.

Lastly, pH can make or break your plants. usually ph only becomes an issue in the later stages of vegetation as salts build up from nutrients. but its possible that your water supply or the soil itself is too alkaline or acidic. I'm currently in the process of adjusting my soil ph levels myself. it happens more often than you'd think. It may be worth your while to invest in a pH probe, or at least some litmus paper. just to get a general idea of whats going on pH-wise.

I notice you didnt answer the question about what nutrients you are using... are you using any? crappy solutions like miracle gro are great for flowers and stuff, but cannabis requires an entirely different diet. and... you shouldn't use any nutrients AT ALL until your plant looks like it needs it. its much easier and more effective to feed a hungry plant than starve an overfed plant.

It's also possible that you got a bad seed with bad genetics that just decided to stop growing. It's rare, but unfortunately it does happen.

it's a store bought soil for gardening. it's actually called universal torf erde. basically it's sail mixed with compost.
I'm not using any nutrients at all. i don't use any till the flowering phase.
K i'm going to get myself some perlite. guess it's kinda late at this point but i can use it next time.

From fluorescent to MH? 2-3 weeks after sprouting. I've found it beneficial to start the MH at a good height above the tops (like 2.5 feet or so) and gradually move it closer (with a 400 watt you can be anywhere from 8"-12" from the tops). It's not necessary but IMHO, it makes for a less stressful transition. And as we all know, stress free is the way to be :thumbsup:
