newbie needing help with a few things

ok now i have a few questions have done a little searching have only found a few things on seeds so far
what is a good variety for a beginner that has decent crop size for indoors and grows relativity fast looking to aim for something able to produce 1 to 2 oz and grow in a space somewhat the same as a closet just costumed a bit so i should be ok for 2 or 3 plants

as for lighting i would rather use the basic fluorescent bulb but have a few maybe 2 for 1 plant and being that they are energy saving it should still be fair cheap on power if needed was thinking of using a small oil heater or something like that does anyone have any better ideas as a 300w hps is around the $300 mark hear

where is a decent priced place to get seeds from as in the seed banks online and has anyone had experience with them

and as for activated carbon filters anyone have any plans or a thread or site that could get my DIY taste buds tingling lol thanks guys
