Topping 10 weeks before harvest

I am a first timer and i heard about topping late into the season so i went a topped my plants that have not started budding but have been in the ground for like 3 months did i do more harm or am i still safe please help thanks and i have some that are in my garden that didn't get topped that started budding three weeks after i topped the ones so will the ones i topped bud or did i kill them

I have topped a plant the day I put it into flower and it was fine.
