Trial and Error - A capsules story

Hello,

First post.

I'm attempting to make capsules for a variety of reasons, mainly health reasons. The goal is a capsule filled with oil and no plant matter

After researching this for about a week I started the process of making an oil that will eventually be encapsulated. I've read so many blogs and forums posts my head is spinning. I'm doing this in the morning with a clear mind to feel the results as purely as I can.

Constants
.4 weed
Variables
-decarb time and temp
-cooking time and temp including mid point cooldowns
-oil
-soy lec powder (cant find powder...can only find granules...have not introduced this yet)



DAY 1
-decarb 20 mins on 220
-bake in same dish for 1.5 hours (veggie oil) (45 mins cool down mix 45 mins)
-did not strain weed
-eat with pudding

conclusion - tasted like ass, buzz crept up neck and into checks, mild to medium high, body felt great, smoked 4 hours in and went to the moon for about 30 mins
assumptions-need to decarb more

DAY 2
-decarb 40 mins on 220 (even after 40 mins my weed is "spongey")
-bake in same dish for 2 hours (coconut oil) (1 hours cool down mix, cook another 1 hour)
-strained weed.....lost much oil
-eat with pudding

conclusion - MILD buzz, very light color green...not a good sign
assumptions-still not decarb enough, increase the cooking temp and lower the time, cannabinoids still clinging to plan material?????

DAY 3
-decarb 20 mins at 250
-bake in same dish for 22 mins 320 (coconut oil) no mix cool down this time
-no strain
-eat with pudding

conclusion - about to eat this. will post results soon

conclusion - Great feeling all day, started working at the 40 min mark, seemed to peak at 1pm (dose taken at 9:50am). decarbed for 30 mins not 20 this time. oil was darker. It's now 4pm and I'm feeling like I need more.
assumptions - quick and dirty, worked well, I think it can still be better.

DAY 4
-decarb 30 mins at 250
-bake in same dish 30 mins 320 (coconut oil) no mix cool down
-no strain
-eat with pudding

conclusion-

DAY 5
-decarb 30 mins 250
-bake in same dish for 3 hours 250
-no strain
-eat with pudding

DAY 6
-decarb 20 mins at 250
-SLOW COOK in same dish in CROCKPOT on low 22-24 hours
-no strain
-eat with pudding

WILL REPEAT MOST SUCCESSFUL BATCHES WITH SOY LEC POWDER ONCE I'M DONE DAY 6.

My brief medical history.

-UC at 23
-j-pouch since 25
-chronic pouchitis (basically a flare up)
-pain, cramps and frequent BMS

What does mmj do for ME?

-reduces BM greatly
-reduces pain
-makes me happy (constantly have to worry about where a washroom can wear you out)
-calms me down

Since eating I'm finding I'm smoking WAY less and the edibles are providing a great baseline for 5-6 hours.

QUICK NOTE ABOUT DAY 3

Dosed 2 times. Second time as at 8pm....woke up day 4 feeling VERY groggy...almost hunger over.


DAY 4
-decarb 30 mins at 225 NUKE 10 seconds
-bake in same dish 22 mins 320 (coconut oil) no mix cool down
-no strain
-eat with pudding
-added soy lec granules

conclusion - wow, way stronger, had to lay down. will be able to cut plant mats down to .3 ... lasted a loooong time. slept like a baby (that actually sleeps)
assumptions - soy made a huge diff, should be good to try and strain plant mats from this procedure.

MEH I'M lazy and I'm just gonna keep doing the following...It's working. I'm only dosing once a day so I don't really need the caps. I'm doing this a single dose at a time. I think that if I made a large batch that straining would be possible but with such a low volume of oil and bud the loss of materials is too great.

MATERIALS
-nugs
-oven safe dish
-coconut oil
-soy lecithin
-tin foil

DIRECTIONS

1-Grind bud, remove stems and leaves. Aim for the amount you use in to smoke a personal...about .4
2-Put this in a oven safe container (I used a pampered chef 1cup dish), cover with foil.
3-Put in a preheated oven at 220 for 30 mins.
4a-Let cool, I put in freezer.
****OPTIONAL4b-NUKE 10 seconds (optional based on look and feel of bud, aim for slightly browned and a dry/crispy to touch)****OPTIONAL
5-Add coconut oil and soy lecithin..make sure bud is covered with oil.
6-Cover with foil, put in a preheated oven at 320 for 22 mins.
7-Turn off oven and let the dish sit in there till its cool to touch. (if you don't have time just put in freezer or fridge.)
8-Don't strain, Add something to the dish to eat...I used chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding but those didn't mask the taste (which is not awful). I used cherry yogurt today and it tasted fantastic. EAT CHEW YUM YUM

Should hit you after 45mins-1.5 hours

I've been smoking MJ for 20 years...since I've started eating I don't smoke..haven't for a week. I was going through 3g a day smoking. I'm down to about .4g a day.

I tried this with about .5 maybe .6 and it was far to potent, had to sleep.

oook so it's time for an update

1-I attempted to make a large batch with 12 grams and I just eyeballed the oil. Dosing from this container is frustrating to say the least. I want to get 28 small containers, measure out the dosage at this point the cook etc etc.
2-Holy shit my breath stinks when I burp, wife refuses to kiss me, she describes the smell as "skunky weed". No amount of teeth brushing will fix this, it's coming from the gut. I did find a banana masks the smell quit well.
3-If you stay dosed all day (2 to 3 doses a day) your bowel movements will stink like MJ, I'm not shitting you....punny guy i know. Can't really see anyone at work going to my boss and telling them my poop smells like MJ though.
4-Smoking and eating are 2 different things and the tolerance seems to build up to eating even if you were a hard core smoker.
5-"overdosed" a few times...paranoia sets in BUT this soon passes. I found at very high doses I had some pretty intense tremors going on, felt like shivering, this induces some mild paranoia and anxiety.

Still very happy with the results of cooking over smoking.

I've had a J-Pouch (large intestine removed, small pouch created with small intestine, very small reservoir) now for about 10 years. Since the surgery I've never slept through the night without having to wake up and use the washroom. Since I've started eating this oil I'm sleeping through the night about 3-4 nights out of the week. I cannot tell you all how awesome this is, so awesome I feel like crying. I have no reason to lie, in fact I urge anyone that has GI problems to try the oil (I recommend a strained version to start and eat with food).
