Just got approved by the Dr to get into the NMCP
What a relief it was to finally be approved today, am so thankful and fulll of joy that i dont know what to do. So looking forward to having my card to be able to enjoy it legally. Something about it being illegal always kinda made the effects of cannibas not as great.
Got a couple questions and was hoping some of ya'' could help me with them.
First, I've heard it can take up to 4-5 weeks to get the approval from the DOH and get the actual card in the mail. Had read some time ago that the Dept had hired quite a few employees to help with the substantial workload that they have up there. Anyone recently been through this and how long did it take yours.
Second of all, I have PTSD and I am on probation for some petty stuff. And have heard that even though it is State Law and our right to use our medical cannabis as long as we have done all the legal paperwork and are card carriers. Have heard some probation officers still think they r above the law, like many law enforcement officials, and are telling people on a case by case basis whether they think u should be able to use your medicine even if it is a state law. This seems like a huge infringement upon our rights as Americans and residents of the State of NM. Just doesn't seem like they should be able to do this and am really afraid that my PO being the super conservative, Marijuana is a drug and will kill u kind of person will likely tell me that I'm outta luck and won't be able to have my meds. Has anyone or someone u know been through this and what did they do. A PO isnt a judge and definitely doesnt make the laws.

Well first off congrats I guess. I am assuming the the approval you got was from the dr... I can tell you I was just at the DOH and spoke with the new director. They ARE caught up!!! I have seen people getting thier cards in 3-4 week. If you need any help please let me know. I am part of the NM-MCPA and we are a group of patients helping patients. Congrats on getting your doctor to certify that you have a qualifying condition. You should receive your card soon. I would suggest you discuss how using medical cannabis will impact your probation. If a condition of your probation is that you cannot drink or partake in drugs don't do it without permission. Although the PO has to uphold state law, he/she may not agree with the program and may turn you into the feds. Just be careful. There isn't a product out there that can detoxify you for a urinalysis with no notice.

I just got approved today also--paper work in the mail--so guys realisticaly--how long for a card ??-is any one ever turned down??--and is there a grower in the alamogordo area??

It usually takes them 4-6 weeks even though the statute says they are supposed to have a 30-day turnaround. Keep us posted as to how long it takes. You will receive a list of producers with your card .... hold on to it and don't lose it. Without revealing who they are, there is a producer in Ruidoso and one in Las Cruces.

Great news!
The PO issue will be very case specific, I have heard of the extreme on both sides, super liberal and super conservative. Just be honest and sincere and it should work out just fine.:smokin:
