Drug Test Results: Time Frame Until Safe

Am I correct that the people being tested generally are not notified of the results after the test, unless there is some problem?

That's what I thought, but a woman had a drug test (possibly for a different company, maybe it was a test for something else) right before my friend and they told her they'd call her with the results in a few minutes, but they didn't say anything to him after he was done with his test.

If there is a problem, how long does it take before people are notified?
