My plant's been in a vegetative state for 90+ days and I still can't determine the sex. I've never had this problem before. It doesn't appear to be growing any more. Should I go ahead and change to 12/12?

In the past I've always been able to determine sex before changing the life cycle.Quote:

Why would you wait to see the sex before switching anyway ? That makes no sense at all.
You switch to 12/12 when you want the plant to bloom... this shows sex anyway. Where is your logic in all of this ?
Every other plant I've grown over the past couple years, after 45-60 days, I've always been able to see the two hairs indicating female, or not. I used that to tell me to go ahead and go to 12/12. I want to know the sex prior so I can go ahead and pull it if it's a male.Quote:

You don't need to wait for the plant to tell you its sex... you can force the plant to tell you its sex whenever you like... Even take a cutting off a vegging plant if you like and bloom that...
After you go 12/12 it will take a few days and possibly a week+ to find the sexes... Even after you find that you have a male there is no need to panic... The male wont do any damage until
the pollen sacks mature which can be another couple of weeks...
You really have the traditional method of sexing your plants very backwards in your head... you are wasting time waiting 3 months for something that you can see in 3 days...
I just turned from 18/6 to 12/12 2 days ago and I can already tell all the females... But if you want to do things the long way go ahead... A longer veg will bring in a bigger yield anyway...
Well, as long as you have the lighting to cope with a Christmas tree and a 20 gallon pot....
Makes sense. I was thinking that going to back and forth on life cycles would stress the plant. Thanks for your help!Quote:

Just veg until the plant is about a foot high with at least 7 - 10 nodes and then go 12/12.
The size of the plants all depends on the light you are using though... My LED gets the plant a foot high and very bushy in about 4- 5 weeks.
Someone using a less powerful light will have to veg for longer.
You can see my current grow in the link in my signature, click on LED Grow no. 2 with Rhino Seeds....
Glad I could help. At least now you will begin to get your crops rotating much quicker and the plants will be shorter so you can have more plants.
I grow 4 plants in a 90cm x 90cm space. If you have a good light and 1m2 you can do the same. Just follow my second grow and you should be fine ;)

I vegged for around 612 weeks because of my lighting now I've been flowering for two weeks and just saw its female need to get better lighting I'm going cfl for now but I have a 430 watt ballast just wanna get a reflector but kinda pricey. Well she has grow very bushy since I started flower stage
612 weeks ? Typo ?
Did you mean 6 to 12 week of veg ?
So it's been about 5 weeks of being on 12/12 and it still isn't flowering. It's over 6'6 in a 5 gallon bucket. Did I wait too long to bloom and have ruined the plant now?? This is probably the 10th plant I've grown and never encountered anything like this. Getting frustrated.
