I have never used Marijuana in any form before. I don't feel like my lungs could handle the smoke or vapor, so I have decided to make edibles. I want to make brownies, but I do not know how much Marijuana to use to make the butter. I want to make half a batch of brownies so I need some help on making them.

if you have access to canna butter already, just use it like regular butter in your recipe. Else you will have to make your own cann butter. I've never made brownies befor, however I do make a great oatmeal cookie!. Puts me to sleep like a champ, which is why I use it.
If making your own cannabutter, it all kind of depends on the quality of what you use. I use only sugar trim and small 'popcorn' buds when I make mine, to the ratio of 1 1/4 ounce of trim to one pound of butter.
There are many good sources on the net on how to make cannabutter, some are more complicated than they need to be.
How I do it:
1) grind all the trim and buds up in a grinder.
2) in a LARGE pan, I add about a quart of water and bring it to a SLOW boil, that is, just barely boiling. I then add my butter. ( one pound)
3) when all the butter has melted, add your ground trim to the pan and stir.
leave on the fire at a very gentle boil for at least a half hour, stirring occasionally to help release the oils into the butter. ( there are many who say that you need to leave it on for hours and hours, I don't see any need for that personally)
4) Now comes the tough part: strain the mixure into a large bowl, caution: ITS HOT so handle with care. I find that cheesecloth is much to porous and allows to much leaf matter through so I use some fine mesh material that my wife had hanging around in the sewing room for a strainer.
5) place bowl in the fridge untill the butter mixture solidifies on top of the water.
6) cut up the now solidified cannabutter and drain all the water away, I use recycled margarine tubs to store my cannbutter and keep them in the freezer until I am ready to cook with it. It might help to weigh the resulting butter into the portions you will be using ( 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb., portions whatever size you will be using in your cooking) I just use the slightly less than 1 lb. for a batch of my cookies, so I leave it in the 1 lb. portion size.
Thats really all there is too it.
ps:
in the resulting mix, when I make my cookies, just one cookie knocks me out. So you will have to be your own judge on how strong or weak you want it to be, by either lowering/raising the amount of trim used, or how much to eat. Know also that by ingesting instead of smoking your meds, the effects are a bit different. By ingesting your meds I find that it takes about an hour to start feeling the effects, which instead of being 'stoned' just makes me sleepy. ( my personal observation, which may be different in others).
Since I use my cookies as a sleep aid, due to pain keeping me awake at night, the effects are just what the 'doctor' ordered.

Everybody has differing levels of tolerance to marijuana, so how strong or weak your edibles are is completely up to you. Make one batch, try it, see how it affects you, adjust accordingly for your next batch. 1/4 ounce to 8 brownies sounds a little weak but I don't know the quality or rather the strength of the cannabutter you are using. Its all a little trial and error. What works for me may not be right for you. If it's pain relief you are after then strong is good.
Agree with the previous comment. It depends upon the choices of the individuals. So after researching, take your pick.
