Question on Confidentiality
So I was wondering, after perusing the MMJ bill for RI, what sort of confidentiality is given to registered patients? That is to say, who can see that you're a patient?
I understand that not just anybody can look you up and see your status; however, I know that law enforcement and agencies associated with them can. I was just curious if anybody else like maybe a potential employer or an insurance provider is privy to such knowledge.
This has been my main impetus in applying for a card, as I fit the bill, to say the least.
Question on Confidentiality
Federal HIPAA laws require you either give signed persmission or a law enforcement official has to get a judge signed court warrant to look at your medical files.
But some states are starting registries for patients that have no medical information, only that you're a legal MMJ patient. Not sure what law RI has. And that should be strictly for the state and law enforcement. No insurance company or employer should have access to that.
Question on Confidentiality
I am a rhode island patient. the rhode island police are the only people privy to that information .
Question on Confidentiality
You don't have to register if you already have a doctors rec. although if you are caught it is a headache but RI does provide for Affirmative Defense
