College grad applying for jobs_ genuinely looking for help with dilution method.

Okay, so, I'm 24- have a bachelors degree in psychology- and I'm about to apply to a variety of _wait for it_ probation officer positions. The dilemma here is I'm an intelligent human being who understands that cannabis is not a _cause_ of negativity in peoples' lives, and can be used alternatively for many _good_ purposes. The problem, of course, is that the rest of the drones out there have only been programmed to see in black and white.

Enough ranting. I am seriously and genuinely concerned about the possibility of being forced to entirely quit smoking for the next yr or so - maybe more! - in order to make some cash and get some professional experience (I'm on track for a phd). Although I'm already expecting advice to the effect of 'if you want a job, you have to buck up, buttercup' I am extremely hopeful that I can find a way to perfect this dilution method (As many others have attempted, I'm sure).

Facts- I weigh 175 lbs; I exercise regularly; I'm 5'11"'; and I've been a heavy smoker for the past year
(2 bowls a day at least- hey, it's heavy to me!)

Now I understand that there are a few obstacles that require navigating over with this dilution method - such as the color of the urine, the creatinine levels, specific gravity, and ph. Although I'm fairly convinced that the color/creatinine levels are realistically manageable (I plan to run practice trials before the test), I'm less sure about how to accurately mold the specific gravity and ph of the sample within the 'normal ranges', and could use some guidance.

*Serious help only please, as I'm sure you all can identify with the abhorrent thought of being forced to quit something you love- and have managed to successfully live a healthy lifestyle with! - It's like losing your g/f- no more sex in the clouds- they say! (Damn them)

Also wondering how long I should abstain from smoking before my first drug test - for the first one I plan to be clean but attempt the dilution method- that way if I have to re-test I have no worries. (Today is the first day of no smoking (Argh)).

first of all, dont become a probation officer. i would not recommend it. anyway, i have been on probation and have passed using the dilution method that is posted on the sticky. i m a heavy smoker and i even passed when my po called me in for a random test. i smoked the day before and thought i was outta luck, but followed the directions to the dilution method and passed. mind you the test was in the afternoon and i voided like 15-20 times before and drank water, no detox drinks, and gatorade or the same. also, the test they use are dip tests and are not sent to a lab.....for your job they will be very thorough and use a lab so you should stop smoking all together and work out, berries, water, 100% juices and creatine. good luck....and once again dont be a po, be something else. but whatever

When dealing with dilution techniques, the only two aspects you need to be concerned with is creatinine and specific gravity.
pH is NOT checked to determine dilution. pH is only checked to determine adulteration.
Color is the least aspect in determining an overly diluted sample. Even samples with a nice color to them can still have unsatisfactory SG and creatinine levels.

Tips on maintaining acceptable creatinine and SG levels are all found on the Dilution 'sticky' thread. The thread will also inform you on when to stop smoking prior to utilizing dilution.

I passed recently with 3 days notice. I smoke about 4 bowls a day at 6'1, 190 lbs. Pound water, supplement with creatine leading up to the date, and read the stickies. Oh, and if color really sketches you out, drink a gatorade instead of your last dose of water.

Thanks, fellas, I'm going to continue to try to perfect the method for my body size, but will have to stop smoking for now. If anyone has any final suggestions, however, about where I could buy home testing products that will allow me to test my creatinine levels and the specific gravity of my urine, it would be much appreciated. Thanks again - and feel free to toke an extra one on my behalf - maybe the cannabis gods will transfer a bit of that extra euphoria my way... (ha)

Just search google or amazon for adulteration test strips. They will test your void with the same scrutiny the lab would. You will be able to see if you are within acceptable creatinine and SG levels while honing your dilution technique. BTW - you could do like the rest of us edumacated folk do and just sub :) Much more fun to continue to smoke with impunity than to worry about passing tests any more. The days of me sitting in a waiting room feeling like my bladder was going to burst are long behind me. But to each their own. It is a big leap of faith the first time. Good luck whatever you decide.
