new grower could use some advice.
Hello everyone,
I am a new grower and i am just in the begining phases of my first grow. I have built grow box, and purchesed seeds. I am aiming for a small and simple operation. i have a few issues that no matter where i look to research, i cant get a proper anwser. if anyone could help me out id be greatly appreicative. my grow box is 32 in tall. 24 in wide. and 16 1/2 in. deep. I have 5 hindu kush seeds soaking in a glass of water now. these seeds are not feminazied so thinking hopefully 2 or 3 plants will grow to be female. Is my space big enough to see 3 small indica threw the veg. and flowering life cycles before harvest?
In my box i have 3 100 Watt CFL light bulbs placed on the 2 sides and back of the box, as well as a 4 in. ducting fan in the top center of the back.
i have been doing some temp tests, to check the temperature of the box during the light and dark cycles of the day. with the fan running and the lights on, the box has been between 23.5- 27 degrees C. i dont think thats the issue, with the lights off and the fan on,(during the night cycle) the temperature in the box can be as low as 19 degrees C. is this to cold for my plants? if so, what should i do to warm it up? i have no control over the fan speed, will this solve my problume? turning the fan on a lower speed at night?Attachment 280138Attachment 280139Attachment 280140

I bought some clones and raised them on 2 100watt cfl's and it was ok for a while. They were going downhill so I went to a hydro supply, got some good potting soil, fertilizer etc. and a 4' 4tube T5 light. That really brought them back to life.
My box is 54" tall 49" wide and 24" deep. That's working pretty good for veg but I'm moving 3 over to flowering soon and I need to build a box more like 28" deep for the new lights I ordered.
I'm just thinking about the size of the plant when flowering and my box is a bit small maybe...
So yours is sounding really small and underpowered. Mine is considered underpowered with 8 T5 bloom lights from what I hear.
I raised some seeds and just put them in the potting soil and they came up.

how many plants are u growing, i know the strains i choose are short indica plants, and i am only planing to have 2 or 3 produce bud. im planing the plants to be under 2 feet tall at harvest meaning about 12 to 16 in when i change the photoperiod. is this unrealistic?

So I've got 3 teenagers that I'm going to put into flowering next week.
Then a young clone and about 6 little ones from seeds. The 3 teenagers take up a lot of the room.

That's 24"x48" and flowering is going to be done in a separate box.
It's worth a try.
I think the reflectivity with the 8 tubes I have will be enough to finish up the bloom but it's just a theory.

It's mostly made of water (plant)and will freeze quick and never recover. I hate casualties!

19 degrees C. = 66 degrees F.
Best to stay above 70 degrees F. I run my lights at night.

for the temperature, i think i'm just going to get a heat pad to keep the floor a couple degrees warmer. my main problem right now, is trying to figure out if this box will see at least 2 plants threw to flowing and harvest. when i induce flowering i'm adding a 150 HPS light, and run it along with the 3 100 Watt daylight CPF. I have not grown before. i dont know how tall even short indica plants will be, i have read that you can keep budding plants short by inducing flowering early, Reallly dont want to do that. i figuir the tallest a plant will fit in my box at harvest is about 24 in, this means changing the photoperiod around 12-14 inch. is this a proper height for a short indica vegetative-preflowering plant?
Thanks to everyone for the very usefull advice so far.
