Seed strain genetics - heat resistance
I live in the deep south, and summers here start early, end late, and are hotter than Hades. I mean temps in the 90°F plus range as early as May and 110°F plus in July/August/September. I'm growing indoors, but trying to keep the entire house cooled when the temps are that high outside is simply a waste of money.
Last year we pitched the central AC, got a few window units and now only keep the rooms we're using cooled, and then only when we're using them. The central unit was close to 20 years old, so it was time to make a decision to replace or think 'sideways' toward cooling. Replacing that antique central unit with window shakers cut the electric bill from around $500 a month to about $240.... But I'm off subject...
What I'm getting at is the back porch is going to be HOT this summer, starting around mid May. I did a little digging and we hit 90°+ eleven days in May this past spring. I'm trying to say it was HOT!! And it will be again. I expect temperatures in the grow rooms to be in the 100° range even WITH ventilation this upcoming spring and probably 20° over that in the summer. Putting another window unit in the back? Out of the question My wife would NEVER consent to that idea and after 20 years of marriage I know better than to even ask. (Ok, call me cowardly. But, I've learned when to grovel, when to run and when to shut up!)
Has anyone had any success (or dismal failure) with any specific seed strains in conditions where you simply can't keep a grow 'cool'? I'll be moving my vegetating plants to the flowering room within the next few weeks and I intend to order some feminized seeds at that time to start the next rotation. So far, I've only grown bag seed which was probably 'mexican headache brown'. That handles heat well, but it just doesn't hold it's own when compared in yield nor effect if compared to the 'better' strains available in the seed banks. I see these seeds I'll be ordering having to flower through May. And it WILL be getting hot; due to ambient heat.
NONE of the seed banks say anything about a strain being 'resistant' to drought or heat or anything else. And I don't want to waste money ordering seeds that are going to be overly temperamental. If you know anything about any particular strain being a little more forgiving toward heat (AND inexperience) I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person interested in learning from you.
My intention is to order from Attitude, so if you know of a strain they carry I'd be even more appreciative to learn from your experience.
Thanks in advance!

Am I asking something 'wrong'? I can't believe NO ONE has had decent success or dismal failure that can be directly related to heat.
Bag seed does pretty well in the heat I'm dealing with although I'm sure it could be better. Something 'special' surely holds up in indoor Arizona/New Mexico grows with a bit of a heat issue... I'm ready to order a few seeds, but don't want to order blindly if I can help it.

Here's a good thread on heat....http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-pro...es-desert.html....
