Hello from Canada
Very new to the site and the whole concept of medical marijuana. my sum total experience with MJ was 40 + years ago, so I'm very much a newbie.
How did I get here? my journey began in 2006 when I was diagnosed with a stage IV cancer in my jaw. During 17 hours of surgery, I lost half my jaw, all of the inside of my mouth, both of which were reconstructed using my fibula and tissue from my arm. Radiation and chemo followed, and although I am cancer free, I have a lot of chronic pain, which has worsened in the past 18 months.
Investigation has revealed that the entire TMJ on the left side has been completely destroyed by oesteoarthritis, and the radiation has caused a good deal of bone necrosis in my mastoid process and temporal bone. As a result, they will not operate on my jaw to try to repair it, although there is a major surgery planned for later in the year to remove the mastoid process and resect the temporal bone to eliminate the dead bone.
I've run the gamut of meds for treating the pain, and currently am oxycontin/oxycodone...I HATE eating pain pills all the time, and I'm hoping this may be a viable alternative for me, since this is a long term problem with no realy hope for improvement.
I'm looking forward to learning a lot about the subject here. I know I'll have lots of dumb questions and I thank you in advance for tolerating them
