It's my 2nd year growing outdoors here in so cal and only 1 problem - !!!!WORMS!!!!
Not sure whether they're caterpillars or the infamous 'bud worm' but these little b@stards are on my last nerve. I'm not insane about organic gardening but I've been going that route since they sprouted around Feb. Of course these meanies don't show till the flowers are nicely forming :mad:
WHAT TO DO? If there's a 'safe' chemical, let me know what it is cuz I'm about ready to use it. Is the only other option early harvesting? I do want my flowers to get to their full potential. Up till now I've been diligently picking them out and spraying their nasty pebble-shits out with water...

Are they green? I had some two years ago and ended up going through each plant bud by bud looking for them and pulling them out.

Safer spray is soap based... Trying to stay away from anything soap-y messin with my loverly trichomes...

If so, it's best to head them off at the past.
Screen out, or repel the budmoth before she lays eggs.
They are nocturnal and seldom seen, but since I started laying dryer sheets on my soil, I have seen no budworms 4' above the soil!
So it now seems that the sheets are effective against moths too
Probably the safest, pleasantest, and most effective remedy that I've ever seen.:thumbsup:
And very affordable.
One sheet repels whitefly, flying root aphids, fungus gnats, roaches, wasps, hornets, mosquitos, and apparently, budmoths, for months.
Meanwhile, keep hand picking.
There are probably still some eggs yet to hatch
I used to use jewelers tweezers to limit damage to the trichs.
But now, no worms.:cool:

Dryer sheets?!?! Get out!! I'm on it yo! Hate to be so nosy but-
was 4' the max height of yours? is that how you came up with that #? My ladies are 5'+ and I'd like to save my top from that disaster too...

Yes. I hadda quit growing trees.
There is such a thing as too much.
You can tie them around a branch.
Dunno if the buds would pick up the scent from a few inches away.
At any rate, it is not necessary to have them that close
A couple sheets just lying around in the grow cabinet keep flying bugs at bay,
And so far, it has not affected the aroma or taste of the meds.
I should mention the Costo's brand is far less perfumey than Bounce and just as effective.
Wouldn't recommend actually putting them in contact with buds though. :)

I'm gonna cross my fingers n try it. I've had the dryer sheets chillin in the trees for a couple days now... Still fighting the damn worms as much as ever...:mad:
Might be a little early to expect results but dammit!!
