Trimming?
Well i was talking with my uncle yesterday an i told him about one of my plants, and its about 7" tall so far, but umm, he told me that i would need to trim it, he said wait untill its about foot tall and then start trim. I was thinking though is that to late or not? However the way he told me to trim them is to do this.: Cutt the first to branches near the bottom off and then cutt the ones at the top short. but i have a filling that he dosent know what he is talking about, so that why im asking you guys.
How do i keep my plant trimmed?
And when do i start?
Also wich ones do i need to cutt?
Thx ppl..peace

don't trim unless it's absolutely needed, in my opinion. If you're trimming for the purpose of space conservation, try LST.

if you want to pinch the top for doubling the main cola...i like doing it on the 3rd or 4th node early in seedling stage. this will give you 2 or more main stalks instead of one plus makes for easy training to grow along the ground surface. also search "FIM" at marihemp and overgrow...your uncle may have been talking about that practice. i've never tried FIM myself (on purpose) but supposedly it increases production by pruning lower branches in a special manner...all the info on it can be found with a search...

There is a difference between cropping and hacking up a good plant. There is no need to hack up a good plant period. If you are talking about cropping (cropping will make the plant grow shorter and branch out. Cropping needs sidelight to make use of the extra bud area) thatâ??s different. To crop you cut between the 4 & 5 node and use the clipping as a clone.

why did you tell your uncle? the best way to get caught (or to suddenly find the plant gone) is to tell others. people get funny about money and weed. ask here -- that's what the forum is for. loose lips sink ships (and get people busted)

I agree with Booch but i dont think youd ever need to trim it especially if its only 7" tall. I'd have to assume that whereever your growing it that your space might be small in area but doesn't have AS MUCH as a restriction in height. A lot of people I know grow their stuff in really thin but tall places and make their plants stretch to cope for the lack of horizontal space. You COULD keep it short but that would be more for a purpose of learning or to not need such a large yield.
